The painting just doesn't do the scene justice. Anyone who has traveled to Oregon or Seattle knows how majestic these mountains are. The distance is also somewhat misleading. What appears close-by is actually miles away. The weather changes constantly, and one can be knocked over by a thick cloud in a second.
